Olympus PEN E-PL2, A Seriously Good Camera Because Of Its Niche
i'm quite surprised at the way good the images are that I'm getting, particularly jpegs. I'm used to shooting raw because I advance files and can squeeze a bit more juicy goodness out connected with my photos that in-camera jpeg canning does. Surprisingly, this camera does a terrific job with jpegs within good light situations. That's the important idea to remember, good light. Kirk Tuck gives the Olympus PEN E-PL2 a fine review, but realize that will he's a lighting expert, who has written several (good) books to the subject.
IMO this video camera is targeted toward a pair of markets. For those moving up originating from a point and shoot, it can be wonderful. It's familiar in addition to less intimidating than a good SLR. It can create better images than even the most effective point and shoots. the cost is reasonable. It's attractive and it's really a lot lighter than a SLR. Those people wouldn't look at shooting in bad light without getting a flash. They wouldn't take into account deliberate long exposures to smooth motion effects. Those last two areas may not be the camera's strengths seeing that Brad R. points out there. From the things he is asking the Olympus E-PL2 to perform and not getting satisfaction they are a more knowledgeable photographer and demands above the main target market with this camera. If you want lower light capability or lower ISO speed then it is not the best camera close to, though it isn't that will bad, either.
The other market will be more experienced photographers searching for a light and compact second or third photographic camera. They have cameras intended for low light or fast action shooting. But you can find reasons for not carrying around an enormous, heavy, professional looking camera but still wanting quality image files. That's my own reason. My aging back again hurts lugging around the fully sealed and robust SLR. I've also found that patient questioned about photos when in numerous tourist places: No advantages allowed. Pros need to be charged a fee. I don't want a reporter having my picture. Guess what exactly? The EP-2 doesn't get that types of response. It looks as a tourist camera and vacationers aren't as intimidating while professional looking photographers, pro or not. Stick a huge camera with vertical grip within a room and people tight up. Hold your camera a foot while in front of your face and couple of people care. I love that about it camera. I guess you are able to tell that I like street photography with it.
How much do i'm keen on it? A lot. it's tolerably light, fits in the smallish fanny pack. handles great, takes great photos in good light, has well though out settings, and works fine with flash systems. Will I be shooting through the night with this for obtainable light? No. Is it a great camera for portability? unquestionably. It's light. Its lens are lighter than any kind of larger sensor camera's. i will take excellent quality images while i work with rather than resistant to the Olympus PEN E-PL2. All in just about all I very pleased.
the other nice thing about this camera usually it will take accessories and a remote shutter release. you'll be able to, and probably should bring the attachable viewfinder. it'll also take external microphones, which aids in much higher audio whenever recording video. That seems strange, but it's true. As a video digicam, it's pretty equivalent to be able to current entry level SLRs.
