Canon Powershot S95: Get Best Price On New Canon Powershot Family
Canon S95 is an upgrade to Canon S90, Canon's high-end point and shoot that includes extensive manual control lineaments. It is planned for the user who wants the simplicity of a point and shoot, but also the control that a advanced end camera provides.
Canon S95 Review
The body of the Canon Powershot S95 is quite similar to that of its predecessor, although it's a fraction of a millimeter less tall and deep, and a few grammes heavier. The front panel has some added texture, but otherwise you'd be hard put to tell the cameras apart without seeing the model number.
That's not to say there aren't any visible hardware changes, though. The Canon PowerShot S95 now features a mini HDMI connector, allowing for it to be secured into newer high-definition displays. It also supplies support for the modern higher-capacity different of the Secure Digital card standard, dubbed SDXC.
Other specifications are largely unchanged from the previous PowerShot S90. These include a stabilized 3.8x optical zoom lens with an uncommonly bright f/2.0 aperture at its useful 28mm wide angle, falling to an f/4.9 aperture at its reasonable 105mm telephoto position, a pretty high resolution 460,000 dot 3.0-inch LCD panel, five-mode flash, ISO sensitivities from 80 to 3,200 equivalents at full resolution, and full manual exposure capability. Power comes courtesy of an NB-6L lithium-ion rechargeable.
Canon S95 Conclusion
There aren't that many differences between the Canon S90 and Canon S95: both have the same overall design and shoot the same resolution images. But that's a good thing: Canon S90 was a super little camera, and the signs are that Canon S95 should stay this trend, with a mates of new tricks to sweeten the pot. The addition of high def video capture is particularly welcome, and the new shooting modes could also be useful. But at heart, Canon S95 is much the same as Canon S90, and that's a good thing.
